First Church Concert Series
presents
Donna Lee, pianist

Donna Lee, Professor of Piano at Kent State University, will perform on Friday, March 6, at 7:30 pm in the sanctuary. She made her solo debut in 1990 with the National Symphony Orchestra and since has appeared as a soloist and collaborative artist at Kennedy Center's Concert Hall and Terrace Theater in Washington, DC and Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall in New York City. Please join us for a delightful evening of music.



 


Men's Time Out
Saturday, March 7
8:30 - 9:30 am

Men's Time Out is held on the first Saturday of each month and features a light breakfast, great fellowship and meaningful discussion. All the men of the church and community are invited to attend.



 


Cici's and a Movie
Sunday, March 8

We invite all 4th - 6th graders to go to Cici’s and a movie. We will leave the church at noon and return at 5pm. The cost is $6 for kids 10 and under and $8 for all those 11 and up. This includes all the pizza you can eat, pop and a movie. We will be choosing the movie at the ROCK on Wednesday, March 4, or you may call the church office to give your vote. The cost is $1 more after March 4.



 


 

Going Strong
Thursday, March 12

 David Gates of the Summit County Historical Society will present a program entitled “Understanding the American Hobo”. It will provide a look at this unique community of men and women. Hobos had their own code of ethics, expressions and phrases, and signs and symbols. The program will include photos and a display of hobo gear which will be used to demonstrate the lifestyle and culture of the American Hobo.



 


2015 Chess Camp - July 13-17

A fun and inspiring introduction or improvement to the game of chess! It's a week of learning, chess-themed crafts and field trips, live action chess with a concluding chess tournament. Snacks are provided, but participants must bring a bag lunch each day.

The lead instructor is Jeff LaVeen, a National Expert player. The Camp Dean is David Bills who has many years of experience teaching chess to elementary children, coaching tournament players and state championship teams.

The 2015 camp will take place July 13-17 and runs from 9 am to 4 pm. Anyone 1st grade and up and either unrated or rated up to 1,500 is invited. The cost of the camp is $150 and before and after care is available for an additional fee. Space is limited so be sure to register early.
